Faerie Brooms

With Ostara fast approaching we realized that we hadn't gotten out all of the crafts that we had done! (That, and we didn't finish the ones we originally started either.) So we got together and spent an entire day just crafting. It was so much fun. One of the items we wanted to make sure to do was the Faerie Brooms.
What you will need:
Small  Broom
Ribbon, twine, pipe cleaners
Whatever herbs you would like to use
Fake flowers of your choice
Any other charms or accessories you would like to add

After searching through several stores and getting frustrated that all they sell are the small "plastic" brooms, Annastacia and her husband found the small brooms that we used at Tractor Supply for around $4-5 each! We picked up the flowers we used from the dollar tree, and just used whatever ribbon we had on hand for our bow. We also already had the twine to tie everything together and the pipe cleaners as well. So all in all we barely spent anything to do this project and they turned out beautiful! I have mine hanging right next to my front door!

Now that you have all of your supplies, let's start throwing this thing together! Make sure all of your tags are taken off of everything. (You would be surprised how often this happens. haha) Try to figure out how you want your broom to look. Do you want more herbs, more charms? Or do you want to have it look more floral for the Spring season. Play around with it, until you get it to something that you will love! Anna and I used fresh rosemary from her garden, which made it smell sooo good! Once it was all layered the way we wanted them, we wrapped them with the pipe cleaners at the top of the broom. This seemed to work better than the twine and raffia for holding everything in place. *Make sure that you wrap around the entire broom! We added thick wire ribbon as the final touch, wrapping around the broom over our pipe cleaners so that you can't see the messy stuff. Also, when making these, don't worry about it being "perfect" it's the little imperfections that turn your crafts into original masterpieces.

When you are all finished, find a spot for it to hang and enjoy!
Since we are doing brooms it's also a perfect time to talk about doing some Spring Cleaning! Whether it be physical or spiritual cleaning, these brooms and any others that you might make will be an essential part of any household for Ostara!

Be sure to refer back to our previous post of "Cleansing a Space", but also keep your eyes peeled for "Cleansing a Sacred Space using Broom Magick"
If anyone decides to make these beautiful brooms, please post your pics and let us know!

May your light shine so brightly upon others that they too want to be a beacon unto the world!

    1. Thank you Bev! That sounds like a great craft! I would love to know what herbs and flowers you picked for the Sabbats, what a great way to personalize a ritual.
