Ribbon Wind Chimes

Good Morning White Raven Friends!
Today we are providing you with yet another amazing craft project. We made Ribbon Wind Chimes for Ostara, and year round. We, Anna and I, each made 2 separate chimes. One spring themed and one black and white for whenever. We originally found this craft idea on pinterest and like so many others who have come before us we said to ourselves..."We can do that!"

I want to make sure to give you a disclaimer before I even begin. This can be extremely time consuming if you do not get your items prepared ahead of time. When we originally started these it took us hours to finish. Between the wine, the kids interrupting, and not having our ribbon pre-cut, it took awhile to say the least. But, the process itself was fun and I love how they turned out! The key to doing this craft is preparation. If you are like us, then you just have an abundance of ribbon lying around. Between the two of us we didn't have to purchase any ribbon at all; but if you do have to, I recommend either buying in bulk or rummaging through the dollar ribbon bins at Michaels or see what you can find at the Dollar Tree. (yes, they have ribbon)

What you will need:

Ribbon (a shit ton)
Wicker wreaths (you could also use foam, or an embroidery hoop; really anything circular)
Scissors
Lighter
Any added decorations (flowers, charms, bells, etc.)
Wine (at least 2 bottles)

The wreaths we actually found at the Dollar Tree, and everything else was from items we already had, so this craft cost us a total of $4. It will cost you much more depending on the price of your ribbon.

Okay, Lets get started!
First you will have to figure out what size chime you want to make. We did both large and medium. If you are trying to keep it cost effective, then go with a smaller size wreath. Once you have that ready, decide how long you want your ribbon to hang. We just did a rough measurement with our arms from tip of the fingers to around the shoulders. My arms are shorter than AnnaStacia's so I measured almost to my opposite shoulder. Lol.

Try to get a general idea of about how much ribbon you will need by measuring around the wreath. -For the large wreath it will use anywhere between 75-100 pieces of ribbon. (keep in mind you will use more ribbon if you double it; tying the ribbon in the center as opposed to just one side).

Before you start tying your ribbon off you will want to burn your edges so that your ribbon doesn't fray over time. Just grab a simple lighter and run the flame over the end back and forth.

Now that you are prepared, start tying your ribbon off. We just did simple knots. This process can be quite time consuming. We highly recommend keeping it fun. We decided the best way to do that was with straws in our wine glasses.

Once you have your ribbon exactly how you want it you will need to find a way to hang it. We just tied off a piece of ribbon from one side to the other, or you could do it in thirds, whatever works for you. Just be sure to hold it up and make sure that your wreath is level.
Finally, find a spot to hang it up, and Enjoy!

The colorful ones we are using for Ostara. The black and white ones I want to leave up year round, and just add different color ribbon to it depending on the Season or Sabbat. These especially look good when there is a breeze and you can watch them blow!

If you decide to make this craft, please let us know! Send us your pics! We are trying to build a community and make sure that we are all supporting each other.

May your light shine so brightly upon others that they too want to be a beacon unto the world!
